Group Data Scientist (Pricing & Advanced Analytics)

The group level headquarters Dr. Max BDC is expanding the ML Data team, so we are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer / Data Scientist to join us. - Analyze pricing, commercial, and operational data to identify opportunities and translate them into ML solutions with measurable business impact.
- Build and improve pricing models to optimize revenue across thousands of SKUs, working within a genuinely complex, production-grade ML system, alongside other ML use cases across the business (e.g. forecasting, assortment, operations).
- Collaborate closely with the ML engineering team on shared, complex model components, while also owning and driving your own projects end-to-end when the work calls for it.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to deploy scalable ML systems into production.
- Enhance the existing pricing engine and help scope, build, and launch new ML initiatives from scratch, using AI tools (e.g. LLM copilots, agentic workflows) to accelerate development and analysis.
- Work with modern data stack: Azure, Databricks, PySpark, plus AI/LLM tooling to speed up experimentation and delivery.
- Turn analysis into clear, business-facing recommendations. Present solutions and explain complex concepts to non-technical and senior stakeholders.
- Participate in design and code reviews, promoting high-standard AI/ML modelling and engineering practices.
Our Stack and Methods
- Optimization: nonlinear convex programming, MILP via HiGHS, Numba accelerated Python for performance critical routines.
- ML modelling: gradient boosted trees (CatBoost, LightGBM), causal inference with Double Machine Learning, SHAP for model interpretation, TabICLv2
- None of the above is a strict requirement. Solved similar problems with different tools? We're just as interested in your approach.
- Min. 3+ years of experience in Data Science, Analytics, or Machine Learning Engineering.
- Strong skills in Python, PySpark, SQL and cloud-based environments (preferably Azure).
- Comfortable working with complex, interdependent ML systems, both as part of a team and as the sole owner of a project.
- Strong analytical and business mindset, able to turn data into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with analytics, business intelligence, pricing, forecasting, or optimization models is a plus. Exposure to other ML use cases across a business is welcome.
- Comfortable using AI tools (LLMs, coding assistants, agentic workflows) to speed up analysis, prototyping, and delivery.
- Fluent in English; Czech/Slovak is a plus.
