Group Lead Data Engineer
Dr. Max is the leading pharmacy chain in Central Europe. In every country where we are active, Dr. Max is dedicated to improving the level of health care available by guaranteeing access to a broad assortment of medicines and pharmacy services. Pharmacies are currently present in 6 countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Italy) with great expansion plans across Europe for the near future. Dr. Max is building a Global Data Platform to serve the entire Group, leveraging data to support our continued growth. We're looking for a key member to join our Group Data team.

In a nutshell, you’ll be a great match if you:

Can define and implement standards for an efficient Data Engineering process across six countries and multiple vendors. For example:
- Set up, document, and enforce CI/CD pipelines for Azure Functions.
- Manage and coordinate the team’s deployment process into production.

Ensure standards are maintained and continuously optimized. For example:
- Dislike siloed development.
- Oversee third-party data project delivery.

Ensure our cloud costs are in line and can optimize workflows. For example:
- Review Databricks' workflows to identify and address performance bottlenecks.
- Implement techniques like z-ordering, partitioning, caching, and vacuuming.
- Manage PySpark effectively.

Enjoy fostering growth within your team and guiding others. For example:
- Build and lead a community of data engineers.
- Mentor and coach colleagues.
- University degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in designing and implementing data solutions, particularly in large-scale, multi-tenant Data Lakehouse environments.
- 5+ years of experience in Data Warehousing design and implementation.
- Proven expertise with the MS Azure stack (particularly in Delta Lake, Databricks, Spark Engine, as well as experience with Data Factory, Event Hub, Synapse, etc.)
- Proficiency in data architecture.
- Knowledge of data pipelines/ETL/APIs.
- Strong technical leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to mentor and collaborate effectively.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Solid understanding of data concepts, patterns, and data management.
- Proactive, collaborative, and open-minded with the ability to work independently.
- Effective and professional communication skills, both verbal and written (mainly in English).
